Official Android 8.1 with Treble is in the works for Xiaomi Mi A1

Official Android 8.1 with Treble is in the works for Xiaomi Mi A1
Back in July 2017, Xiaomi announced the Mi 5X for China and rebrandend it as Mi A1 (Android One) for the global markets, which was made official in September 2017 during a launch event in India.

In case you don't know, the Mi A1 is a part of Google’s Android One program which runs stock Android and will receive consistent software updates for a longer period than other smartphones by OEMs that are not a part of the Android One program.

Xiaomi and Google during the announcement of Mi A1 promised Android Oreo update by the end of December 2017 and they succeeded in doing that. However, the company still hasn't updated the Mi A1 to the latest OS which is the 8.1 Oreo.

Well, the good news is, Xiaomi is testing Official 8.1 Oreo for the Mi A1 and with Project Treble Support. When XDA member guy_infinity asked a recognized developer who works for Xiaomi in firmware development, he confirmed that Android 8.1 is in the works for Xiaomi Mi A1, and he also said that "Yes, treble is to be supported". The news was further confirmed by Mishaal Rahman ‏(Editor in Chief at XDA).

It seems that the Android 8.1 Oreo will be available for the Mi A1 in the coming months. Subscribe us on YouTube for Daily Android News, and Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter page to get the first News.
