Stock Android 7.1.1 ported to the Moto G 3rd Generation (2015)

Stock Android 7.1.1 ported to the Moto G 3rd Generation (2015)
Last year, Motorola made a decision that the Moto G 3rd Generation – one of its most popular phones ever – is not going to get an official Android Nougat update. Cue the sound of millions of hearts of Moto G 2015 owners breaking, as most of them were really still hoping against hope that it would happen.

Now the Moto G 3rd Generation is given a lifeline through community development by "althafvly", an XDA Senior Member, with a port from the Moto G4 Play and Moto X Play that recently got an update to official Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat brings Brand new Moto System icons, New Camera UI, New bootanimation, and other usual Android 7.1.1 Nougat goodies.

Apart from the Video recording and Moto Actions bug, the port is stable and fully functional. If you want to get a taste of Official (Sort of) Android 7.1.1 Nougat on the Moto G 3rd Generation, then go ahead to XDA. Note that it needs an Unlocked bootloader and a Custom recovery.

Motorola is now pushing a new software update for the Moto G4 Plus in India with Build no. NPJS25.93-14-8 and it comes with the latest security patch. It weighs in at around 55MB.

The update only contains June 2017 security patch, and it doesn't bring any new features whatsoever. While this update would have been more exciting if it had brought Nougat 7.1.1, which is already available for few Moto devices.

The update is already rolling out to the users of  Moto G4 Plus in India. If you did not receive the update wait for few days or try checking for it manually by heading over to system updates section in the Settings app.

Motorola’s instructions explain that for a successful installation, the battery in your phone should be at least 50% charged and your device should be connected to a Wi-Fi network or LTE.

As you can see, the recently announced OnePlus 5 tops the AnTuTu with Snapdragon 835 processor. It is closely followed by the ZTE’s Nubia Z17 which is having 8GB RAM. At the number 3 position is the Snapdragon 835-powered HTC U11 and at number four and five is the SD 835-powered Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and the Xiaomi Mi 6. The iPhone 7 Plus with a A10 chip inside occupies the sixth spot, while the Xperia XZ Premium is at seventh. The rest of the list is made up of the iPhone 7 at the eighth position, Galaxy S8 at the ninth, and OnePlus 3T at the last.

That said, It's not a shocker that the OnePlus 5 snatched the crown from the HTC U11, which was on the top of the list last month. The OnePlus 5 features 8GB RAM and is accused of cheating on benchmarks, also it is the first device to cross the 180k mark. Thoughts?
