LineageOS 15 Android 8.0 O News, Features, and Release Date

LineageOS 15 Android 8.0 O News, Features, Release Date and Screenshots
According to the latest reports, Google will be pushing Official Android O (8.0) update for the Pixel, Nexus and, latest Android One Smartphones in August. Along with the final Android O build, Google will also release the Source code, which will help developers building custom roms based on Android O.

LineageOS is the latest sensation among custom rom lovers and developers. We already know that the Lineage OS is a continuation of what CyanogenMod was. LineageOS is one of the fastest growing community and it is now supporting thousands of devices. With the release of final Android O, Lineage is expected to announce the LineageOS 15 based on Android 8.0 for most of the existing as well as new Android Smartphones.

In this Article, we'll be tracking and updating all the News, Rumors, Features, and Release date of the upcoming LineageOS 15.

LineageOS 15 Android 8.0 O Expected Features:-

Starting with the Features, we have already seen the new features of Android O including Notification badges, Advance Snoozing, Notification timeouts, Background colors, Picture-in-Picture mode, Pinning shortcuts and widgets, New emojis, Autofill, and more. So, technically LineageOS will be coming with these new features including Android O's whole new Interface (White Quick Setting tiles, new Settings UI, and other apps).

Additionally, Lineage is expected to bring "Themes" functionality to the Custom Rom. We have seen Cyanogen doing wonders with its Theme Engine, but with the death of Cyanogen, the theme engine cannot be ported to Lineage. So, Linage will be bringing something new or might even merge with Substratum.

LineageOS 15 Android 8.0 O Release Date:-

As said, Google is now all set to release the final build of Android 8.0 along with its source code in August. So, expect LineageOS 15 or any other custom rom by the end of 2017.

BlueBorne Fix Rolling Out With September Android Security Update for Moto G4 Plus
If you own a Moto G4 Plus with "retapac" Software channel you should have received the over-the-air update notification for September Security Patch, and it's crucial that you download it, as it brings along the fix for the critical BlueBorne Bluetooth attack.

The BlueBorne vulnerability was discovered only recently. It’s a Bluetooth vulnerability that leaves Android devices open to a potential takeover by hackers. The vulnerability is also present in Windows, Linux and some iterations of iOS.

The new update comes with build no. NPJS25.93-14-10. Note that the device still runs Android 7.0 Nougat after the update. While this update would have been more exciting if it had brought Nougat 7.1.1, which is already available for Moto Z Smartphones.

Motorola’s instructions explain that for a successful installation, the battery in your phone should be at least 50% charged and your device should be connected to a Wi-Fi network or LTE. If you haven't got the notification of this new software update yet, Just go to Settings - About Phone - Software updates, and It will automatically start downloading the latest update. The update will take around 10-15 minutes to get Installed on your device. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter page to get the first News.

Recently Motorola announced the list of devices getting Android 8.0 Oreo and confirmed that the Moto G4 Plus will be getting Android Oreo update. Here's what Motorola said: Since the time of posting this, we have learned of some errors in our marketing materials around Android O upgrades for moto g4 Plus. It’s our general practice for the moto g family to get one major OS upgrade per device, so it wasn’t originally planned for Android O. But it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading moto g4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit into our schedule, we’ll update our software upgrade page when we have more info. In other words, Motorola will now update the Moto G4 Plus.

Moto X Play users on Android 7.1.1 Nougat Soak test are now getting another Software update with Blueborne Patch

Moto X Play users on Android 7.1.1 Nougat Soak test are now getting another Software update with Blueborne Patch
Android Oreo is already official and there we've the Moto G4 Play, Moto X Play, and Moto X Pure users who are still waiting for Android Nougat update for their Smartphones. All we know at this point is that, yes, Lenovo is testing Nougat on these phone. The company isn’t providing a timetable like it did earlier this year, though. That’s likely because it doesn’t want to give false hope and disappointment to their customers.

Earlier this month, Motorola started rolling out Soak test of Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the Moto X Play with August 1, 2017 Android security patch, Video calling Duo application, Stability improvements other interesting features along with Android 7.1.1 Nougat goodies.

Then again, there's another update for the Moto X Play users running Android 7.1.1 Nougat Soak test. This latest software update features build no. of NPD26.48-24-1 and weighs in at around 15.6MB.

The update reportedly brings latest September Security patch and Blueborne Fix. The Blueborne vulnerability was discovered only recently. It’s a Bluetooth vulnerability that leaves Android devices open to a potential takeover by hackers. The vulnerability is also present in Windows, Linux and some iterations of iOS. Note that the device still runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat after the update.

Armis Reported that the BlueBorne spread through the air (airborne) and attacks devices via Bluetooth. Armis has also disclosed eight related zero-day vulnerabilities, four of which are classified as critical. BlueBorne allows attackers to take control of devices, access corporate data and networks, penetrate secure “air-gapped” networks, and spread malware laterally to adjacent devices. Armis reported these vulnerabilities to the responsible actors, and is working with them as patches are being identified and released.

September Android security update resolves 30 issues dated 2017-09-01, and 51 issues in the one dated 2017-09-05. Vulnerabilities range from moderate to critical, and Google particularly notes that it provides "Android partners with the flexibility to more quickly fix a subset of vulnerabilities that are similar across all Android devices."
