Motorola rolls out May 2017 Android Security patch for the Moto G4 Play in Brazil

Motorola rolls out May 2017 Android Security patch for the Moto G4 Play in Brazil
Just a few days ago we reported that the selected Moto G4 Play devices are receiving Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, which is probably for the MFN (Motorola feedback network) testers.

However, Motorola is now pushing a new software update for the Moto G4 Play in Brazil with Build no. MPIS24.241-15.3-21 and it weighs in at around 44MB.

The update only contains May 2017 security patch, and it doesn't bring any new features whatsoever. While this update would have been more exciting if it had brought Nougat 7.1.1, which is already available for few Moto devices.

The update is already rolling out to the users of  Moto G4 Play in Brazil. If you did not receive the update wait for few days or try checking for it manually by heading over to system updates section in the Settings app. Make sure you've at least 50 percent juice left on your phone before updating it.

A few days back we reported that Motorola has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat Software update for the Shatterproof Moto X Force with latest Security patch, Video calling Duo application and other Nougat goodies. Well, if you haven't received the update yet, then this recent development might be of interest to you.

A Google Plus user "Milton Fernandez" has managed to capture the Moto X Force XT1580 Android 7.0 OTA update, meaning that owners of the Moto X Force codename KINZIE can install the update right now if they wish to (link to Google Plus post at the bottom of the page). But before you do, there are a few things to consider-

Milton Fernandez has stated that this update can only be flashed on devices with December 1, 2016 security patch with Build no. MPKS24.78-8-12. Note that this OTA file is for the Moto X Force, so do not attempt to flash it on other devices.

We recommend you to wait for the official OTA, as Motorola has already started pushing the update. The company’s official Facebook handle has also confirmed that the Nougat update will reach the Moto X Style in a couple of weeks, and the Moto X Play in Mid-July
