Nokia 2 will be updated to 8.1 Oreo under Google's Android Go Program

Now that Google has released the next version of Android, Android Oreo, the wait for the devices to get the update first has already started. HMD Global has already updated the Nokia 8 to Android 8.0 Oreo and will be rolling out the update for other Nokia phones soon.

The Good part is recently announced Nokia 2 will directly jump to Android 8.1 Oreo under Google's Android Go Program.  Juho Sarvikas, Chef Product Officer for HMD Global made the announcement in a response to a Nokia 2 user.

Recently announced Android Oreo Go Operating System features a handful of Google apps including the GoogleGo, Google Assistant Go, Maps, Gmail, YouTube Go, and other light-weight stuffs. The Android 8.1 Oreo Go is designed to run better on phones with either 512MB or 1GB of RAM.

According to the latest rumors, HMD plans to launch upcoming low-end devices under Google's Android Go Program. As per leaks, the first Nokia Smartphone under Android Go would be Nokia 1. Read more about Nokia 1.
