HMD releases kernel sources for the Nokia 8, Nokia 6, and Nokia 1

HMD finally released the kernel source of its Nokia 8, Nokia 6 2017, and Nokia 1, allowing developers to start the development of custom ROMs for the device. 

HMD Officially does not permit the Nokia devices to be bootloader-unlocked. But there's an Unofficial way which can be found on XDA.

A developer at XDA has found a way of unlocking bootloaders on the Nokia 2, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8. While testers have confirmed the fact that it does work, the methods involved may not be the safest.

The kernel sources are available in the tar.gz file extension. If you're interested in developing a custom ROM for Nokia devices, the go ahead to Nokia's Website and download the kernel sources and set it up in the Android Kitchen.

Nokia 1 Hands-On Images!

Nokia 1 is now Official with Google's Android Go. It is the entry-level smartphone from HMD with decent specifications and polycarbonate design.

The Nokia 1 specs are minimal, and it runs on a 1.1GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and just 8GB of storage. It’s a compact device, with a 4.5-inch display (854 x 480) and a basic 5-megapixel camera. Below are some hands-on Images of the Nokia 1, Enjoy!


HMD Announces Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1

You are probably watching along to the Nokia MWC 2018 live stream, but the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1 is now official with enhanced features. Nokia 7 Plus is powered by Google's Android One, Nokia 1 by Android Oreo Go.

As for the rest of the story that has been leaked in various forms over the past weeks, this is what we are looking at. So, we have a "new era of smartphone design and fantastic new services, opening up new ways to experience the world".

Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with curved glass finish in a stainless-steel frame. It has a 5.5-inch curved edge-to-edge pOLED display protected by a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top, Dual rear sensors with ZEISS optics with one wide-angle sensor coupled with a secondary 13-megapixel sensor with 2x optical zoom. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo.
With the Nokia 7 Plus, you get a 6 inches 18:9 display, Snapdragon 660 CPU which is of course faster than the Snapdragon 630 used in Nokia 7, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage expandable up to 128 GB with MicroSD. We have 12MP + 13 MP with ZEISS Optics, 2X optical zoom, f/2.0 aperture, Dual PD all pixel focus, Nokia Pro Mode app, and Bothie.

The Nokia 1 features a two-tone polycarbonate design with a slightly curved body. It runs Android Oreo (Go Edition) which has been optimized for devices with 1GB RAM or less. It has a 4.5" compact screen.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1 will be available starting on April 2018 at €749, 399€ and 85€, respectively. And will be offered in a rich color palette

Nokia's Smartphone Lineup for 2018 Gets Leaked
2017 was HMD's most successful year ever as Nokia phones sales soar. It seems that the company is planning to launch a bunch of Android Smartphones under Nokia brand in 2018.

Not one, but four Nokia phones have just been leaked, seemingly revealing company's plans for 2018 with new handsets on the way.

Inside the latest Nokia Camera application on Nokia 5 Oreo Beta, the folks over at NokiaMob found a bunch of .png files that contains names of different announced and unannounced Nokia Devices. The list includes Nokia 1, Nokia 2, Nokia 3, Nokia 4, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, Nokia 7, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 and Nokia 9.

The new Nokia 1 and Nokia 9 has been leaked several times in the recent past. The refrences to these smartphones inside the latest Nokia Camera application confirms their existence. Interestingly there's also mentions of the Nokia 7 Plus, which suggests an upgraded variant of the Nokia 7 could be on its way.

Nokia 1 is expected feature an IPS display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, 8GB ROM, and 1GB RAM. The device is likely to be powered with a Mediatek CPU. HMD plans to launch the Nokia 1 globally in March with its Russian price tag of 5,990 rubles which is just 103$. It will be launched as part of Google's Android Go program.

It seems that HMD is working with Google for an upcoming Smartphone. HMD Global's next Ultra low-end smartphone will be called the Nokia 1 and launch as part of Google's Android Go program.

As per reports, the Nokia 1 would feature an IPS display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, 8GB ROM, and 1GB RAM. The device is likely to be powered with a Mediatek CPU.


Recently announced Android Oreo Go Operating System features a handful of Google apps including the GoogleGo, Google Assistant Go, Maps, Gmail, YouTube Go, and other light-weight stuffs. The Android 8.1 Oreo Go is designed to run better on phones with either 512MB or 1GB of RAM.
