Google assistant is now rolling out to the OnePlus 3 & 3T

At MWC 2017, Google announced the Google Assistant for all Android devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android Nougat with Google Play Services.

Today, OnePlus on their Twitter handle officially announced that the Google assistant is now rolling out for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, while there's no information on when the Google's AI will be available for the OnePlus Two, OnePlus One and OnePlus X which still runs Android Marshmallow.



Google Assistant, the personal digital assistant for Android phones, once you try it, is incredibly useful. You can get a daily weather reports in your area, traffic on your commute, and what you have on your calendar for the day. You can also have complex conversations with your phone.

Just long press on the Home button or say “Ok Google” to get started!

OnePlus announces "Midnight Black" version of the OnePlus 3T

After the huge success of OnePlus's latest limited "Colette Edition" version of the OnePlus 3T which went on sale in Paris on 21st of March, The company has announced a new limited edition Midnight Black OnePlus 3T for those who have been waiting for a darker version of the handset.



OnePlus 3T Midnight Black is the latest edition to the OnePlus family. With space-grade aluminum and three dark coatings at just 14 microns thick, the OP3T All-Black maintains the natural look and feel of metal. It comes only in 128GB Storage option. 

It costs $479/€479/£439 and will go exclusively on sale at 4pm GMT/9am PST on Friday, March 24 at hbx.com (Hypebeast). There will only be 250 units available for this pop-up sale, though. If you live in North America or Europe or Asia, you can grab the device at OnePlus.net for a limited time “at a later date”. It will be available in India on Mar 31, 14:00 (IST) at Oneplusstore.

The OnePlus 3 or 3T might have a slightly tilted camera bump

This might surprise you, but your OnePlus 3 or 3T might have a slightly tilted camera bump. Incase you find a noticeable tilt, You're not alone!
A number of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T users are reportedly having a peculiar issue with the camera bump. According to a thread on OnePlus subreddit, some camera bumps on the two phones are slightly tilted one way or the other.



Interestingly, the issue is not present with all the units. Only the camera bumps on some units appear to have a more noticeable tilt, than on others and this doesn't affect your Camera performance at all!

As you can see in the photo above (Shared by reddit user @hyperjit), the camera bump appears to be slightly crooked.

OnePlus 3/3T gets OxygenOS 4.1 (Android 7.1.1)

After testing OxygenOS (based on Android 7.1.1) beta 12 for the OnePlus 3 and beta 3 for the OnePlus 3T, OnePlus has finally started pushing Android 7.1.1 Nougat to the OnePlus 3/3T.

Here's the changelog for OxygenOS 4.1 (Android 7.1.1), which is the same for both phones:-

• Upgraded Android 7.1.1
• Updated Google security patch to 1st March 2017
• Added expanded screenshots
• Improved picture taking of moving objects with blur reduction
• Improved video stability when recording
• Improved WiFi connectivity
• Improved Bluetooth connectivity
• General bug fixes

This OTA is incremental and is now rolling out for a small percentage of users, OnePlus will begin a broader rollout in a few days. The download page has not been updated with the latest firmware of OxygenOS 4.1, So you might have to wait a little to Install this latest OS on your OnePlus 3/3T.

OnePlus announces limited "Colette Edition" version of OnePlus 3T

The company started teasing a new device color back from last week, and now the Company has officially unwrapped the limited edition "Colette Edition" version of OnePlus 3T.

OnePlus 3T colette edition is the latest edition to the OnePlus family. With Matte Black color, the device comes only in 128GB Storage option. It costs 479 Euros and will go exclusively on sale at colette in Paris. Few first buyers will also receive a free pair of OnePlus Bullets to go along with their device.

OnePlus has only 250 colette edition in store, you can grab one at at colette in Paris on 21st of March at 11AM.

Recently OnePlus released Hydrogen OS beta based on Android 7.1.1 for the OnePlus 3 & 3T for Chinese customers with Chinese and English language support, the rom has no Google apps included.

Now, the company has announced OxygenOS (beta 12 for the OnePlus 3 and beta 3 for the OnePlus 3T) based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with March 2017 security patches.

OnePlus 3/3T gets Android 7.1.1 Nougat via Hydrogen OS beta

Just a month ago, OnePlus released "Hydrogen OS" for the OnePlus 3/3T. Hydrogen OS is the custom rom for Chinese customers with Chinese and English language support. The rom has no Google apps included, but you can download and flash it manually.

Now, the company has started rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat with March 2017 security patches via Hydrogen OS beta. The firmware is now live and is available at H2OS website, it costs 1.32GB.



We have no information on when OnePlus will start testing OxygenOS based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Well, for now OnePlus users can taste HydrogenOS with Android 7.1.1 Goodies!

OnePlus Teases Something for this Valentine's Day!

Chinese smartphone vendor, OnePlus has something under their sleeves for this Valentine's day. The company, on their official YouTube channel, posted a video in which everyone says 'I Want You.' 

However, we're not sure on what OnePlus is actually teasing about. But surely, something big is coming from OnePlus. Also, at the end of the video, they stated as 'Get whatever you want this Valentine's day.' 

We believe that the company might offer some massive discounts on all of their products or, there can be a new Red colored variant of the OnePlus 3/3T coming in, but we're not sure up to what extent this is true. 

That said, everything is still under wraps for now. We will update you once after receiving further info regarding what OnePlus is up to.

Following the OxygenOS 4.0 and 4.0.2 based on Android 7.0 Nougat, the company is now rolling out OxygenOS 4.0.3 OTA update for the OnePlus 3.

Apart from Android 7.0 Nougat Interface and Features, Here are some highlights of OxygenOS 4.0.3 update for the OnePlus 3-

• Added Wi-Fi IPv6 Support toggle
• Optimized Smart Wi-Fi Switcher, if turned on, device will switch to data connection if Wi-Fi signal is consistently poor
• Fixed crashes for Line
• Increased stability of the Camera app
• Optimized exposure when taking night time photos
• Updated Audio Parameters and improved the quality of audio recordings
• Updated APN settings for select carriers
• Amazon Prime App will be pre-installed for India Users

After update, users might face fluctuations in WiFi connectivity, but here's how you can fix this issue- 

• If you experience frequent WiFi disconnections, please go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Configure WiFi (Top right hand corner) > Scroll to bottom of the page and check the IP address format (IPv4 = Single line, IPv6 = Multiple lines)> If the IP address is IPv6 based, then turn off the IPv6 Support toggle and see if the disconnections stop.
• If you experience frequent WiFi disconnections due to switches between WiFi and data, please try turning off the Smart Wi-Fi Switcher at Settings > Wi-Fi > Configure WiFi and see if the disconnections stop

OnePlus and Meizu Caught cheating popular benchmarking apps

A few years ago, Samsung, HTC and a few other companies were caught manipulating performance of their smartphones to score high in various benchmark apps including GeekBench and Antutu Benchmark.


According to latest reports from XDA, OnePlus and Meizu is targeting specific applications like AnTuTu and Geekbench to boost the clock speeds of the chipsets inside the OnePlus 3T and Meizu Pro 6 to score high. 

“OnePlus was makings it CPU governor more aggressive, resulting in a practical artificial clock speed floor in Geekbench that wasn’t there in the hidden Geekbench build. It wasn’t based on the CPU workload, but rather on the app’s package name, which the hidden build could fool.”

However, OnePlus has promised that they will remove these tweaks in a future update.

“In order to give users a better user experience in resource intensive apps and games, especially graphically intensive ones, we implemented certain mechanisms in the community and Nougat builds to trigger the processor to run more aggressively. The trigger process for benchmarking apps will not be present in upcoming OxygenOS builds on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.

After testing few Nougat Open beta builds for the OnePlus 3, the company is finally rolling out Android N stable OTA for the OnePlus 3. Along with the OnePlus 3, the OnePlus 3T is now also receiving Android Nougat stable OTA. 

OxygenOS 4.0 for OnePlus 3T costs 919MB and has already started rolling out!

OnePlus has Officially launched the OnePlus 3T in India with a Starting Price of ₹29,999.

The OnePlus 3T is exactly same as the OnePlus 3, but with few updated Specs which includes a Snapdragon 821 processor, 16MP front-facing camera and a 3,400mAh battery. The 3T has also got new color options i.e. Gunmetal and Soft Gold.

OnePlus 3T gets Unofficial TWRP  | How to Install and Download

It has been only few days since OnePlus started shipping the newly launched OnePlus 3T. 

OnePlus devices were always developers favorite and It seems that fully functional Team Win Recovery has been successfuly ported to the OnePlus 3T, Thanks to jcadduono( XDA Developer ).



If you don't know, TWRP is a custom recovery which helps in flashing mods (e.g. Xposed) and custom roms (e.g. Cyanogenmod).

You can Install TWRP on OnePlus 3T by just flashing the Recovery Image via ADB & Fastboot. Get some help by following the instructions on XDA thread (Download Link).
