The Xiaomi Mi A2 (Android One) is now getting the latest September 2018 Security patch with Stability Improvement and Bug fixes.

If you own a Mi A2 you should have received the over-the-air update notification for September 2018 Security Patch, and it's crucial that you download it, as it brings along the fix for the critical severity vulnerabilities.


The September 2018 Android security update for the Mi A2 weighs in at around 440MB. For a successful installation, the battery in your phone should be at least 50% charged and your device should be connected to a Wi-Fi network or LTE.

If you haven't got the notification of this new software update yet, Just go to Settings - About Phone - Software updates, and It will automatically start downloading the latest update. How to manually Install Official Firmware on Mi A2 via Fastboot Commands
When you pick-up your Xiaomi Mi A2 and attempt to Install Official Firmware via Xiaomi's Flash Tool "MiFlash", you will get an error, well i received one. After spending a few hours with the Mi A2 and its Firmware stuff, I've figured out manual method to Install it.

You'll need ADB and Fastboot, Xiaomi Mi A2 (Unboxing) Official Fastboot Firmware which you can download from Xiaomi's MIUI Forum, and a Desktop, Phew..

Note: This procedure is very technical and should be performed by a person with sound knowledge of Android devices. If the step-by-step installation process is not followed properly, there are chances of the smartphone getting bricked or being permanently irreparable. TechDroider cannot be held responsible for any damage or claims from readers if the procedure does not yield the required results or if the smartphone is bricked. Hence, users are advised to proceed with caution.

Below are the Steps on How to manually Install Official Android Firmware on your Xiaomi Mi A2 via Fastboot - 

1) Extract the Fastboot Firmware and Open Images folder where you'll find all the System, Boot, and other Image files.

2) Extract and paste the ADB and Fastboot files to the Fastboot Firmware Images folder, which you extracted in Step 1.

3) Open Fastboot via CMD and Paste all the below Commands -

So, at this point, you all know Xiaomi is planning to announce the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite during a global launch event set for July 24 in Spain.

Basically, Just like last year, Xiaomi is reintroducing the Mi 6X as Mi A2 with Google's Android One for Global Markets.

Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch Full-screen IPS LCD panel with 18:9 aspect ratio. It has powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset that houses the Adreno 512 GPU. The Xiaomi Mi A2 will come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. Here's the Mi A2 in Red, Gold, and Black color options.

Back in July 2017, Xiaomi announced the Mi 5X for China and rebrandend it as Mi A1 (Android One) for the global markets, which was made official in September 2017 during an event in India. Both the Smartphones received praise from critics and consumers alike for its software (Stock Android), and camera performance.

In case you don't know, the Mi A1 is a part of Google’s Android One program which runs stock Android and will receive consistent software updates for a longer period than other smartphones by OEMs that are not a part of the Android One program.

Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jen revealed that the company has plans to make more Smartphones powered by Google's Android One. Moreover, they are planning to launch an Android One device under the popular Redmi series.

“Yes, we plan to have more Android One devices. Some of our users in India seem to like stock Android, and we are willing to bring in more devices with Android One including the Redmi series.”

Today, a weibo user shared what appears to be the back panel and case renders of the Mi 6X (AKA Mi A2), confirming the phone's design. As you can see in the below leaked image, we have vertical dual-cam setup just like the iPhone X.
Confirming the above leak, Slashleaks posted case renders of the Mi 6X which shows edge-to-edge display and confirms the vertical dual-cam setup.
Mi A1 was the replica of Mi 5X, so it is safe to assume that the Mi 6X would be the Mi A2 with Android One. Also the Mi A1 was one of the most successful mid-range smartphone ever, so it makes sense that Xiaomi would want to follow-up last year's Mi A1 with a Mi A2.
