New Pokemon mobile game coming soon for iOS and Android

After a huge success of Pokemon Go, the Pokemon Company (the real actual owners of the Pokemon brand) is working on a new Pokemon mobile game named "Splash! Magikarp" for Android and iOS devices.

Magikarp is one of the useless and iconic species in the Pokemon Universe, but when evolved to a Giant Gyarados, it becomes one of the powerful Pokemon.

We don't have much information about this upcoming game but according to Pokemon website teaser, the newspaper article describes how a fisherman discovered Magikarp-shaped holes on the ground in town.

Alongside the new creatures, the update also brings 4 new features-

New Evolutions: There are now more opportunities to evolve your Pokémon in Pokémon GO than ever before. Some Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will soon be able to evolve—into Pokémon that inhabit the Johto region! Be on the lookout for new Evolution items at PokéStops, which you’ll need to evolve some Pokémon.

New Encounter Gameplay: When you encounter Pokémon in the wild, don’t be surprised if they react in new ways as you’re trying to catch them. You’ll also notice the addition of new item carousels that allow you to select Berries and Poké Balls directly from the encounter screen. Hone your skills and catch those elusive Pokémon!

New Berries: Pokémon enjoy eating Berries, and you’ll have the opportunity to get two new Berries by spinning the Photo Disc at PokéStops—Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries! Giving a Pokémon a Nanab Berry will slow its movements, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds.

New Avatars and an Expanded Wardrobe: Now you’ll be able to give your avatar a complete upgrade! Customize your look with a whole new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items.

Pokemon GO saves Nintendo

Let's talk about Nintendo. Everyone remembers their amazing consoles, right? The iconic Wii, the ground-breaking DS and all its variants and some amazing games in the last ten years. But during the last years, they faced lots of challenges and tough times.

Releasing sub-par products, some of their hyped releases were a flop, and soon Nintendo stopped being the cool company it was once known to be.

This brings us to their last attempt: Pokemon GO. The game -though not launched in most countries yet- is already a huge hit, and it was already installed in 5% of all Android phones in the US, before its official launch.

You know what this means? Nintendo has a hit in their hands and it's cool again. Since its launch, Nintendo's market value has increased by 7 billion dollars. In comparison, that's what Microsoft paid for Nokia.

The Guardian reports that Nintendo will release four Android games through the year riding this success of Pokemon Go. And who knows...maybe a smartphone? Let's keep dreaming about that but anything could happen.
