Moto G 3rd Generation : Android 6.0 vs Android 6.0.1

Moto G 3rd Generation ( AKA Moto G 2015 ) comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and was updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow few months back .

Recently Motorola rolled out Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for Moto G 3rd generation , which was the next huge update after Android 6.0 .

Android 6.0.1 comes with few changes over Android 6.0 Marshmallow . Though Android 6.0.1 seems to be last Marshmallow version , but it contains many major bugs ( which need to be fixed ) .

So , In this post I will be pointing out the difference between Android 6.0 and 6.0.1 .

Moto G 3rd Generation : Android 6.0 vs Android 6.0.1 -

Battery -

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Battery life vs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Battery Life

After Marshmallow 6.0.1 update the Battery life got terrible , Battery will be draining a lot faster than even Android 6.0 Marshmallow. I mean even Marshmallow 6.0 was eating A lots of battery over Lollipop . And 6.0.1 just came to make it more worse !

On Android 6.0 Marshmallow ,When Charged Battery to 100% , Battery lasted for 1 day, 1 hours, 3 minutes , After a normal usage .
Android 6.0.1 MarshmallowWhen Charged Battery to 100% , Battery lasted for 15 hours, 43 minutes , After a normal usage .

WTH ? Seriously ? Android 6.0.1 just made the battery life worst !

Dialler -

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Dialler vs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Dialler

The new Marshmallow 6.0.1 Dialler is almost same as Android 6.0 Marshmallow Dialler . There is nothing new but the Name Text is Appearing a bit Bolder .

USB Computer Connection -

Android 6.0 Marshmallow USB Connection vs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow USB Connection

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has a dark interface popup for USB connection option and Android 6.0.1 has a light interface popup for USB connection with some information about the type of connection ( PTP , MIDI , etc) .

Though This time you don't have to format your SDcard in order to access it from your Desktop .

Some other changes of Android 6.0 vs Android 6.0.1 includes -

  • Calculator is improved with some additional option ( Inverse , DEG etc ) .
  • Chrome app has been automatically updated .
  • Double Tap Power button to access camera .

Pros and Cons of 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on Moto G 2015 -

Cons -

  • Battery life is terrible .
  • Ghost touch issue
  • Phone is heating too much

Pros -

  • Camera shutter sound option added
  • Double chop for flashlight and Twist for camera gestures are working faster .

Overview -

The update literally made my Moto G 3rd Generation worst ! I mean not only 6.0.1 , even 6.0 was the worst update for Moto G3 . But still 6.0 was better than 6.0.1 . My Moto G 3rd Generation stood only for 15 hours after a normal use and The time it was running on 5.1.1 Lollipop , It made a score of running for 1 Day , 7 hours !                                                                                                                   What was Android 6.0.1 update ? It came with some fixes for the bugs that came with 6.0 only ? The update just Rectified only some of the mistake it caused in 6.0 Marshmallow .             My Moto G3 has just became worst after this 6.0.1 Update !
