Moto G4 Amazon Prime Edition First Look

Two weeks ago, Motorola and Amazon announced an exclusive version of the Moto G4 family for Amazon Prime users in the USA.

Now the phones started to ship and some lucky customer got his phone early so he uploaded a video about this Amazon Edition of the Moto G4. As you can see from the video, the phone has a custom Amazon-signed software, which includes apps and lockscreen ads.

This version is $50 cheaper than the regular version, so if you can cope with the ads then this could be a great deal for you. You can buy this version here.

LG G5 is a flop

Life is not good, it seems... LG has been having some rough times lately, making once cent profit for every phone sold some quarters ago while Apple was making 200 dollars per phone sold, and now it seems that its flagship phone, the G5 hasn't been a hit as it was expected to be.

The G5 was released as a modular phone with top-notch specs. LG estimated to sell 12 million of it through the year, but it seems it won't even be able to reach half of that.

A new report from Digitimes sugges the LG G5 will only reach 5.5 million sold with LG shipping 2.5 million this quarter and sales slowering quicly. That's quite bad for a flagship phone with so much hype.

The Mobile business will post a loss of 110 million dollars this quarter too, shipping only 15 million phones. What did LG do wrong with the G5? Was it its design? Or its specs? Or people simply didn't like the modular concept?

Pokemon GO saves Nintendo

Let's talk about Nintendo. Everyone remembers their amazing consoles, right? The iconic Wii, the ground-breaking DS and all its variants and some amazing games in the last ten years. But during the last years, they faced lots of challenges and tough times.

Releasing sub-par products, some of their hyped releases were a flop, and soon Nintendo stopped being the cool company it was once known to be.

This brings us to their last attempt: Pokemon GO. The game -though not launched in most countries yet- is already a huge hit, and it was already installed in 5% of all Android phones in the US, before its official launch.

You know what this means? Nintendo has a hit in their hands and it's cool again. Since its launch, Nintendo's market value has increased by 7 billion dollars. In comparison, that's what Microsoft paid for Nokia.

The Guardian reports that Nintendo will release four Android games through the year riding this success of Pokemon Go. And who knows...maybe a smartphone? Let's keep dreaming about that but anything could happen.

Exclusive: Moto Z boot logo, download, see it

After playing with the leaked XT1650 firmware for a bit we could extract its boot logo. No, this isn't the bootanimation.zip, this is the image that you see first when the phone powers on.

As you would expect, the batwing is gone to bring in the Moto trademark and then a Lenovo logo probably. Don't worry though, the phone is still a Motorola-made phone, as you can see all the details here. It's designed and manufactured by Motorola, but Lenovo started to include its brand too in the box and the boot animation for future phones.

We haven't been able to extract much from the firmware, although we can confirm it comes with the old 2004 HelloMoto ringtone (hasn't been used in any Motorola device since 2011-2012) and does bring the 2015 boot animation, even though we don't know if it will be the final one or if we will see one with a Lenovo logo.

It should be noted though, that the Droid editions might come with the batwing (fingers crossed!). We'll know more about it next week when Verizon and Motorola announce its pricing and availability during their event.

Anyway, here's the new Boot logo that will come with the Motorola Moto Z XT1650. It's certainly much better than the Moto G4 one, and it looks quite nice indeed. We'd rather see the iconic batwing and then the Lenovo logo, but hopefully they can add that back through a software update or something. Enjoy!
