(Update) Several Verizon Moto G5 Plus Users are Complaining that they Can't Call 911 Due to Software Bug

Several Verizon Moto G5 Plus Users are Complaining that they Can't Call 911 Due to Software Bug

There's no fact denying that the Motorola Moto G5 Plus is the best budget smartphone under $300 price bracket. It has a great camera for the asking price, excellent build, powerful hardware, and stock Android, which loved by everyone.

However, users of Verizon Moto G5 Plus are complaining a weird bug in the software of the phone as it is not allowing them to call emergency number 911.

When some user tried to contact Verizon, they replied him that it's a software bug and can be fixed with an update, but they did not mention any timeline for the update, which is annoying.

Several users are complaining the issue on Reddit, but Motorola is yet to respond them. Nevertheless, it's a critical bug that needs to be addressed by the company at the earliest.

I really loved the phone at first but discovered just two weeks in that there is a Motorola software but which appears on Verizon network when using their G4 LTE network which prevents you from calling 911. I received the phone on Apr 2, 2017 and on Apr 16 I discovered that 911 calls couldn't be made. Luckily I was only calling only to report suspicious activity at a business and not a personal crime because calls would not go through. - Amazon user

Needed to call an ambulance today, dialed 911. Immediate disconnect. Disabled bluetooth, restarted phone, did all the raindances. Remember, I'm in a situation where I need paramedics so this is a little insane. - Reddit user

Update:

Motorola will be issuing a fix for this issue within the next week, until this software update arrives, Moto G5 Plus users on Verizon should head into Settings > More > Wireless & networks > Cellular networks and ensure that “Enhanced 4G LTE Mode” is turned off.

Motorola's awesome new Ad

Motorola just uploaded a new video to promote the Moto Z and its MotoMods platform. The new minute long ad is actually very cool, featuing classic Motorola elements like the iconic "Hellomoto" phrase, the batwing being shown everywhere, and platinum blonde models that remind us of those old MotoRazr ads.

The ad talks about how innovative the Moto Z is in a world where innovation had been stuck since 2007. Check it out here:

The colorful ad even gives Motorola some recognition at the end of it, saying "Moto branded products are designed and manufactured by Motorola", a Lenovo subsidiary. This hadn't been shown since Lenovo's integration of Motorola.

But it seems that after ten months since the rebranding strategy and a new visual identity, they saw it's the opportunity to clarify that Motorola and its iconic elements (Motorola logo, hellomoto phrase, and so on) are here to stay.

Exclusive: Moto Z Play DROID

Exclusive: Moto Z Play DROID

The secret is out! Verizon and Motorola will launch a Moto Z Play Droid in the USA by the end of the year.

We've seen the Moto Z Play all over the news these past weeks, and now one more variant has come to us: the Verizon Droid Edition. Since we got a picture of its "Hardware information" section, we can confirm some specs.

The Z Play Droid will feature a 5.5" 1080p display instead of the QHD one found on the Z and Z Force variants. It will come with 3GB of RAM and 16GB on board memory. Previous leaks also confirmed a Snapdragon 625 processor, clocked at 2Ghz and a 6.99mm thin body, though it's not aluminum this time.

On top of that, you can expect a 16/5MP camera set-up with a front facing LED flash. We wonder why the "Play" version gets a bigger camera than the premium Moto Z... Oh, and there's a 3.5mm headset jack in there.

Other than that, expect it to come with Verizon apps and UI changes, though one good news is that it runs Android 6.0.1 with July's security patch. We expect this phone to be released by the fourth quarter. Thanks to our source, here are some pictures of the Motorola Moto Z Play Droid. Enjoy!

Motorola MotoMods pricing revealed

Pricing for the upcoming Motorola MotoMods have been revealed! Now that the moto Z news storm is over, people have time to investigate unannounced moto Z news. Well, a Reddit user just got a glimpse of the prices for the new MotoMods.

The new mods will certainly be a bit expensive. Starting with the Insta Projector which enables your phone to be a projector and has built-in battery that won't affect your phone's juice, it will be priced at 300 dollars. That's more expensive than a moto G4 Plus!

The projector does seem expensive, but the moto Z might have a competitive price, so it may probably be worth it. The Reddit user also points out that the prices for the powerpack mod and its wireless powerpack will be $89 and $99 respectively.

This prices might not yet be final and they might be lower by its release date. We still have not been told the price for the phones so let's hope they are similar to last year's moto X Style.
