Android 7.1.1 Nougat Unofficially Ported to the Samsung Galaxy J5 2015
We all know that Samsung won't officially update the Galaxy J5 2015 to Android Nougat. However, those who would like to have Android 7.1.1 unofficially on their Samsung Galaxy J5 2015 are in luck, though, as the Galaxy J5 2016 firmware has been successfully ported to the J5 2015.

The Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J5 2015 shares similar CPU and GPU. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat Samsung Experience Port has been released by XDA developer "shivasharma63420". Aside from bringing over Android 7.1.1 to the Galaxy J5 2015, it also brings in pretty much all new apps and features.

Since it's an unofficial attempt, you'll need to Install Custom Recovery in order to Install Android 7.1.1 Nougat Port on your Samsung Galaxy J5 2015.

The developer notes that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat Port works with SM-J500F, SM-J500FN, SM-J500H, and SM-J500M.

How to Download and Install Android 7.1.1 Nougat Samsung Experience on Galaxy J5 2015:

  1. You need to have Stock Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
  2. Install Recovery with support Aroma (eg. Zonik's).
  3. Download the ROM (Fixes, etc.) & copy it to your SD Card.
  4. Enter in Recovery & make 5 wipes (Recommended Full Wipes).
  5. After follow the instructions of the Aroma Installer.
  6. Select Apps, Mods, etc.
  7. Go to recovery & clear dalvik cache & cache 5 to 6 times & then finally Reboot.
  8. Wait 5 to 10 minutes (First start of installation, long delay).

Hey everyone.

Many of you know that it's our policy to provide information about what updates an owner can expect, but no delivery dates. We've learned from experience that missing a date (or actually hitting one exactly, believe it or not) opens us up to far more criticism than if we simply don't provide an update in the first place.

In the US, our Software Upgrade News Page will show if a phone is continuing to get security updates, and this phone is certainly still getting them. (Not sure what the schedule is for providing this information on the Software Upgrade News Pages in other regions and countries.)

So, at the risk of something showing up during testing, or some other roadblock, I will say that we expect a security update in December. The update includes the Blueborne patches available when we began development. (Just covering here, in case a new batch of patches is issued. It's happened.)

I'd also like to reinforce some of the messages posted by other owners; namely that there are no actual known Blueborne attacks. I'd just wish for your own peace of mind that you don't worry too much as it doesn't appear as if a threat is imminent.

Not sure the above information will satisfy but wanted to at least give some guidance. (Hope I don't regret it!)
